The effect of muscle energy technology in postoperative rehabilitation of ankle fracture

Abstract:
Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of muscle energy technology in the rehabilitation of ankle fracture surgery.Methods From March 2021 to October 2023,98 patients with ankle fracture who underwent surgical treatment in Hangzhou Xiaoshan District Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine were selected.According to the difference of rehabilitation program after surgery,they were divided into observation group and control group,with 49 cases in each group.The control group was treated with routine rehabilitation training,and observation group was treated with muscle energy technology.The clinical efficacy,American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society(AOFAS)score,ankle pain visual analogue scale(VAS)score,ankle active range of motion,and bone metabolism indexes[osteocalcin(OCN),bone-specific alkaline phosphatase(BALP),C-terminal telopeptide of type β-Ⅰ collagen(β-CTX)]were compared between two groups.Results Compared with control group,AOFAS score significantly increased and VAS score significantly decreased in observation group(P<0.01).The active plantar flexion and dorsal extension range of motion of ankle joint in observation group were better than those in control group(P<0.01).Compared with control group,the values of OCN and BALP in observation group increased significantly(P<0.01),the value of β-CTX decreased significantly(P<0.01),and the excellent rate of AOFAS score was higher than that in control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Muscle energy technology can effectively relieve joint pain after ankle fracture surgery,regulate bone metabolism indicators,and improve ankle function.
