Abstract: Patients who undergo sphincter-preserving surgery for rectal cancer may face intestinal dysfunction, psychological issues, and social problems. Patient self-management is of great significance for their recovery and quality of life. This paper mainly reviews the concept, evaluation tools, current situation, and intervention measures of self-management for patients after sphincter-preserving surgery for rectal cancer, in order to provide reference for clinical self-management education for those patients.
