Abstract:
Objective:To explore the effect of supportive care in elderly breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. Methods:From October 2020 to October 2021, a total of 66 elderly breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy from the First Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University were enrolled as research objects using the convenience sample method, and were divided into the observation group and the control group with 33 cases in each group according to coin toss. The control group received routine nursing, and the observation group received supportive care based on the control group. Supportive care needs, symptom burden, and quality of life scores were compared between the two groups. Results:After intervention, there was no significant difference in sexual need dimension score between the two groups ( P>0.05). After intervention, the scores of physiological and daily life needs, psychological needs, care and support needs, health information needs and total average score of supportive care needs of the observation group were lower than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant ( P<0.05). After intervention, the total average score of symptom burden of the observation group was lower than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant ( P<0.05). After intervention, the total average score of quality of life of the observation group was higher than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant ( P<0.05) . Conclusions:Supportive care can reduce the needs of elderly breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, reduce the burden of symptoms, and improve the quality of life, which is worthy of clinical application.
