Current situation and influencing factors of financial toxicity in patients with bladder cancer: a scoping review

Abstract:
Objective:To explore the financial toxicity status and influencing factors of bladder cancer patients.Methods:According to the scoping review method framework, the articles on the financial toxicity of bladder cancer patients were retrieved in PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, Embase, CINAHL, PsycINFO, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, VIP, SinoMed and WanFang Data. The search period was from January 1, 2013 to May 2, 2022. An integrated analysis of the included article were conducted.Results:There were 28 articles that met the inclusion criteria. The results showed that the financial toxicity of bladder cancer patients was concerned by scholars at home and abroad and there were related studies. The influencing factors of three themes were summarized, including social demography factors such as age, marital status and education level, the characteristic factors of bladder cancer such as the time after diagnosis and disease stage, personal financial factors such as the patient's insurance type and occupational status.Conclusions:It is necessary to standardize the use of financial toxicity measurement methods and tools for bladder cancer patients, and further explore the controversial factors affecting the financial toxicity of bladder cancer patients. Individual intervention measures should be carried out for bladder cancer patients according to the influencing factors to provide support for bladder cancer patients to control the occurrence of financial toxicity.
