Abstract:
Objective:To explore the incidence and influencing factors of diarrhea in patients with traumatic brain injury in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) who received enteral nutrition (EN) , so as to provide further guidance for clinical nursing care. Methods:From January 2015 to December 2020, convenience sampling was used to select 120 patients with traumatic brain injury admitted to the ICU of Wenzhou Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine for investigation and analysis of diarrhea. Patients were divided into the diarrhea group ( n=65) and the non-diarrhea group ( n=55) according to whether they had diarrhea. The general clinical data and enteral nutrition-related indicators of all patients were analyzed to explore the influencing factors of diarrhea during EN. Results:Univariate analysis found that there were statistically significant differences in the incidence of diarrhea among patients with different ICU stay time, fasting before EN intervention, daily dosage of EN preparation, preparation dilution, gradual increase of preparation, and mechanical ventilation time ( P<0.05) . Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that daily dosage of EN preparations, EN preparations not gradually increased, EN preparations not diluted, and fasting before EN intervention were independent risk factors for diarrhea during EN in ICU patients with traumatic brain injury ( P<0.05) . Conclusions:The incidence of diarrhea during EN in ICU patients with traumatic brain injury is high, and it is affected by multiple factors. Medical and nursing staff should take effective prevention and control measures for such specific groups to reduce the incidence of diarrhea.
