Abstract:
Objective:To explore the current status and influencing factors of self-management in children with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) , and provide a scientific basis for personalized self-management of diabetic children. Methods:Totally 180 children with T1DM aged between 8 and 18 years who attended the outpatient service at the Department of Endocrinology in a Class Ⅲ Grade A hospital in Ningbo were selected by convenient sampling and investigated with the general information questionnaire, Self-management of Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus Across Adolescence, Simple Scale for Parenting Style, and Social Support Scale for Youth. Results:In the Self-management Scale of the 180 diabetic children, the highest score was found in daily care of diabetes (3.27±0.49) , while the lowest score was in solving diabetes-related problems (1.96±0.60) . Multiple linear regression analysis showed that age, medical payment method, subjective and objective support, refusal parenting and warm parenting style were the influencing factors of the self-management level of children ( P<0.05) . Conclusions:The self-management of children with T1DM is poor in solving diabetes problems, on which parenting and social support have an important impact. Medical workers should give targeted health education and guidance according to the different situations of the children, so as to improve the children's self-management level and improve the children's quality of life.
