Abstract:
Objective:To explore women's needs for men's participation in maternal and child health care during pregnancy, so as to provide a basis for promoting men's participation in maternal and child health care during pregnancy.Methods:This research adopted the phenomenological research method in qualitative research. From January to February 2020, purpose sampling method was used to select 11 perinatal women who underwent the obstetric examination and delivery in the First Hospital of Chongqing Medical University as the research subjects. The semi-structured interview was conducted on those women, and the Colaizzi analysis method was used to analyze the interview data and refine the theme.Results:A total of 4 themes were refined, namely the need for men to provide support during pregnancy, the need for men to participate in prenatal examinations, the need for men to participate in decision-making, and the need for men to participate in self-management during pregnancy.Conclusions:During pregnancy, women have a high need for men to participate in maternal and infant health care, and it is manifested in many aspects. Both society and hospitals should strengthen publicity and education for men, promote men's participation during pregnancy, and protect the maternal and child health.
