Abstract:
Objective:To understand the status quo of the professional self-concept and occupational benefit of junior nurses, explore the effects of the professional self-concept of junior nurses on their occupational benefit, and provide a reference for the training of junior nurses and the making of related policies. Methods:From August to October 2017, totally 537 junior clinical nurses from 3 ClassⅢ hospitals in Qinhuangdao were selected by convenient sampling. The data were collected using the general information questionnaire, Professional Self-Concept Nurses Instrument (PSCNI) , Nurses Occupational Benefit Questionnaire (NSOBQ) and Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) . Totally 560 questionnaires were distributed, and 537 valid questionnaires were collected, accounting for an effective recovery rate of 95.89%.Results:The total scores of professional self-concept and occupational benefit of the 537 junior nurses were (84.65±14.80) and (112.70±25.66) . The total professional self-concept score and scores of various dimensions of junior nurses were positively correlated with the scores of occupational benefit ( r=0.320-0.589, P<0.01) . Multiple linear regression analysis revealed that monthly salary, job title, number of night shifts, and four dimensions of professional self-concept (flexibility, satisfaction, communication skills, management ability) were the main influencing factors for the occupational benefit of junior nurses ( P<0.05) . Conclusions:The professional self-concept is an important factor affecting the occupational benefit. Managers should take effective measures at the organizational level to improve the professional self-concept and occupational benefit of junior nurses.
