Abstract:
Objective:To explore the effects of continuous nursing model based on uses and gratifications theory (UGT theory) in obstetrics. Methods:Totally 200 obstetric puerpera hospitalized in Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital from April 2018 to April 2019 were selected by simple random sampling, and divided into control group ( n=100) and intervention group ( n=100) according to the order of admission. Puerpera in the control group received conventional nursing care for obstetrics, while the continuous nursing needs were analyzed by UGT theory and a continuous nursing program was thus developed for patients in the intervention group. Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) , Self-Efficacy in Infant Care Scale (SICS) and Social Support Rating Scale (SSRS) were employed to compare the differences in postnatal depression, self-efficacy and social support between the two groups before and after intervention. Results:After intervention, the EPDS score of the intervention group was (8.2±2.3) , lower than (10.8±2.5) of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant ( P<0.05) . The total self-efficacy score and scores of different dimensions of the intervention group were higher than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant ( P<0.05) . The scores in objective support, subjective support, and social support utilization and the total score of the intervention group were higher than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant ( P<0.05) . Conclusions:Continuous nursing based on UGT theory can significantly reduce postnatal depression in puerpern and improve their self-efficacy and social support, which is worth promoting in clinical practice.
