Abstract:
Objective To explore nurses' awareness of the hindering factors for early out-of-bed activities in patients undergoing abdominal surgery and provide a reference for promoting their early out-of-bed activities. Methods Totally 165 nurses from the Department of General Surgery of a Class Ⅲ Grade A hospital in Sichuan Province were selected by convenient sampling and investigated with the self-designed hindering factor questionnaire for early out-of-bed activities in patients undergoing abdominal surgery between March and April 2018. Results The patients' postoperative pain (3.83±1.17), weak (3.68±1.08) and ECG monitoring (3.48±1.18) were the main hindering factors that nurses thought would affect their early out-of-bed activities; and there were statistically significant differences (P < 0.05) in the awareness of hindering factors between nurses with different educational levels (F=5.410,P=0.005), job titles (F=6.333, P=0.002) and working years (r= -0.159, P=0.042). Conclusions Patient-related factors are the main hindering factors that nurses think affect their early out-of-bed activities, and doctors' lack of postoperative management is also an important hindering factor.
