Analysis of influencing factors pressure ulcer in elderly hospitalized patients and its correlation with self-ignorance

Abstract:
Objective To investigate and analyze the influencing factors of pressure ulcer and the correlation between it and self-negligence. Methods A total of 132 cases of elderly inpatients admitted from September 2018 to May 2019 in People's Hospital of Jiangsu Province were selected as subjects by convenience sampling method. General Information Questionnaire, the Norton Pressure Ulcer Risk Assessment Scale and the Self-Ignore Scale were applied in the investigation to explore the influencing factors of pressure ulcer in hospitalized patients and their correlation with self-negation. Results A total of 132 questionnaires were distributed and 130 valid questionnaires were returned. The scores of Norton Pressure Ulcer Risk Assessment Scale and the inelderly hospitalized patients were (15.78±1.89) and (8.17±1.11) respectively. Multiple linear regression analysis showed that education level, bed rest time, solitary living and BMI were all risk of pressure ulcers in hospitalized elderly patients (P＜0.01). There was a negative correlation between the scores of each dimension of Self-Ignore Scale and the scores of each dimension of Norton Pressure Ulcer Risk Assessment Scale (r=-0.379--0.238,P＜0.01). Conclusions The risk of pressure ulcer is closely related to self-neglect. The higher the degree of self-ignore, the greater the risk of pressure ulcer. Meanwhile, the inpatients with low education background, long time in bed, living alone and low BMI should be actively intervened to reduce the risk of pressure sore.
