eHealth literacy in inpatients with respiratory diseases of a Class Ⅲ Grade A hospital in Beijing

Abstract:
ObjectiveTo understand the level and characteristics of eHealth literacy of inpatients with respiratory diseases and its influencing factors. MethodsUsing convenient sampling method, the profile of 155 inpatients in Department of Respiratory in a Class Ⅲ Grade A hospital in Beijing from April to May 2018 were collected, including general information, habits of searching health-related information online and scores in Electronic Health Literacy Scale (eHEALS). Single and multivariate analysis were conducted to analyze the influencing factors of their eHealth literacy. ResultsThe patients' eHealth literacy score was (21.22±8.63). The results of multiple linear regression analysis showed that the number of online tools, age, place of residence, and education level entered the model, and the fitting model adjusted R2 was 0.427. ConclusionsThe level of eHealth literacy in hospitalized patients with respiratory diseases in a ClassⅢ Grade A hospital is low. The age, education level, place of residence, and the number of tools for accessing health information online are the influencing factors.
