Training status and needs in Class Ⅱ hospital nurses in Shaanxi Province

Abstract:
?? [Abstract]? Objective? To explore the training status and needs in Class Ⅱ hospital nurses in Shaanxi Province and to provide a reference for developing scientific, proper and targeted training plans for secondary hospitals. Methods? Seven nurses were randomly selected from each of 30 secondary hospitals in Shaanxi Province and received questionnaire survey from May to June 2017. Totally 210 nurses were included in this study. The nurses were investigated with the self-designed training status and need questionnaire for Class Ⅱhospital nurses. SPSS 17.0 was used for statistical analyses. Totally 203 valid questionnaires were collected, with a valid collection rate of 96.67%. Results? 77.34% of the 203 Class Ⅱ hospital nurses were trained at hospital;64.53% of them were trained in working days; over 78% of them were trained using traditional methods which focused primarily on basic training; 69.46% of the nurses believed that the training was not much beneficial, and only 51.73% of them were willing to attend the training. 60.95% of the nurses desired to participate in provincial and municipal training outside the hospital, and they have higher needs for professional and specialized theoretical knowledge and skills. Conclusions? The training content for Class Ⅱ hospital nurses is not targeted and they have less opportunities for external training. It is recommended that the curriculum be set scientifically with diverse training methods taking into consideration both posts and needs. Meanwhile, hospitals should pay attention to nurse training and provide financial support.
