Six Sigma theory in health education of patients with coronary heart disease

Abstract:
Objective To explore the role of Six Sigma in improving health education in patients with coronary heart disease (CHD), so as to provide reference for clinical nursing staff. Methods A total of 94 patients with CHD treated in He'nan Provincial People's Hospital from July 2016 to July 2017 were selected, and divided into experimental group and control group by random number table method, with 47 patients in each group. The control group was treated by routine cardiovascular care. The experimental group received Six Sigma theory intervention on the basis of the control group. Self-made health knowledge questionnaire was used to evaluate patients' health knowledge level, Seattle Angina Questionnaire was used to assess patients' quality of life, and self-made Treatment Compliance Scale was used to evaluate patients' treatment compliance. The Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) and Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS) were applied to assess the degree of anxiety and depression. Results There was no significant difference in health knowledge level between the two groups before intervention (P＞0.05). After the intervention, the health knowledge level of the patients in the experimental group was (89.23±10.26), which was higher than that in the control group (70.38±8.62), and the difference was statistically significant (P＜0.05). After intervention, angina pectoris, steady state of angina pectoris, degree of disease cognition and satisfaction of treatment in experimental group were significantly higher than those in control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P＜0.05). The medication compliance of the experimental group was significantly higher (91.49%) than that of the control group (72.34%) after intervention. The depression and anxiety degree of the experimental group were (43.75±3.95) and (43.69±5.19), which were both lower than those of the control group (56.35±4.02) and (52.68±4.36), and the differences were statistically significant (P＜0.05). Conclusions Six Sigma theory can improve the effect of health education for patients with coronary heart disease, and is worthy of clinical promotion.
