Effects of case nursing on self-care agency and life quality among bladder cancer patients

Abstract:
Objective To explore the effects of case nursing on self-care agency and life quality among bladder cancer patients. Methods From June 2013 to June 2015, we selected 116 bladder cancer patients of Urinary Surgery at Peking University First Hospital by convenience sampling. All of the patients were divided into control group and observation group by the random number table, 58 cases in each group. Patients of control group received routine nursing. Patients of observation group were treated with case nursing. The intervention effects were assessed with the Self Care Agency Scale, Quality Of Life Instruments for Cancer Patients. Results Six months after intervention, the scores of health knowledge, self care skill, self-care ability and the total score of Self Care Agency Scale of patients in observation group were higher than those in control group with significant differences (P＜ 0.05). Six months after intervention, the scores of physical function, emotional function and overall health of patients in observation group were higher than those in control group with significant differences (P＜0.01). Conclusions The implementation of care nursing can improve self-care agency and life quality of bladder cancer patients. It is worth to be spread widely in clinic.
