Abstract:
Objective To understand the continuous nursing need and self-care agency in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and to explore the correlation between them. Methods From May 2015 to October 2016, a total of 148 patients with RA of Hangzhou Red Cross Hospital were investigated with the self-designed continuous nursing need questionnaire and Exercise of Self-Care Agency Scale (ESCA). Results The score of continuous nursing need and ESCA was (3.85±0.66) and (94.30±13.02). The total score of ESCA, self-care skills and knowledge were negatively correlated with the total and each dimension score of continuous nursing need (P<0.01). The self concept had positive correlations with the total and each dimension score of continuous nursing need (P<0.05). The self-care responsibility was positively correlated with the total score of continuous nursing need, need of disease self-care and disease progress control (P<0.05). Conclusions The continuous nursing need of patients with RA is urgent. The self-care agency is in a middle level needed to be improved. The continuous nursing need has a close relationship with self-care agency. To meet the patients' continuous nursing need is propitious to improve their self-care agency.
