Evaluation for intelligence in upper 6-year epilepsy patients.

Abstract:
250 patients with epilepsy who aged less than 6 years were evaluated for intelligence, using Raven test. It is found that 16% of epilepsy patients have normal intelligence. 20% have mild and moderate dementia. 64% of patients were classified into severe and extremely severe dementia. Having physical causes with brain damage, prolonged treatment, types of attack and total years of epilepsy development are factors can affect to intelligence of epilepsy patients, in which having physical causes is predominant factor.
