Abstract:
Objective To understand the level of mindfulness and resilience in clinical nurses, and to explore the relationship between the two. Methods From March to June 2016, a total of 1 090 clinical nurses from general hospitals in Dongguan City were recruited in the investigation by stratified cluster sampling method. The general information questionnaire, the Five Facet Mindfulness Questionnaire (FFMQ) and the revised Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC) were applied for the participants' general information, mindfulness and resilience. SPSS 22.0 statistical software was applied, and the statistical methods included statistical description, Pearson correlation analysis and multiple linear regression analysis. Results Among the 1 090 nurses, the total score of mindfulness was (123.64±11.22), and the total score of resilience was (56.14±11.93). The total score of mindfulness and its observing, describing, acting with awareness and non-reactivity to inner experience dimensions were positively correlated with the total score of resilience and all its dimensions (P< 0.05). The non-judging of inner experience was negatively correlated with the total score of resilience and all its dimensions (P< 0.05). Multiple linear stepwise regression analysis showed that non-reactivity, describing, observing and acting with awareness all entered the regression equation, and the 4 facets could predict 30.8% of the variance of resilience. Conclusions The mindfulness and resilience of clinical nurses are at a moderate level. The improvement of mindfulness level can effectively promote clinical nurses' resilience. Therefore, it is suggested to implement programs and interventions based on mindfulness to enhance nurses' resilience, so as to reduce their working pressure, improve job satisfaction, maintain and promote the physical and mental health of medical staff.
