Abstract:
Postpartum rooming-in is an important mode of maternal and child health care advocated by the World Health Organization (WHO). Rooming-in can promote the establishment of intimate relationship between mother and baby, at the same time, it also helps the maternal postpartum recovery and neonatal development of physical and mental health. However, premature babies have to be transferred to neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) for treatment immediately, causing maternal separation. The mothers are confronted with many challenges in psychological and physiological aspects because of maternal separation, which needs active and effective nursing interventions. In recent years, a large number of scholars have carried out a lot of researches, and there have been remarkable achievements. This article reviews the related premature infants' maternal nursing.
