Application effect of ostomy bag on drainage tube seepage after abdominal operation:a Meta analysis

Abstract:
Objective To systematically evaluate the effect of ostomy bag on drainage tube orifice seepage after abdominal operation.Methods The databases such as the Cochrane Library,PubMed,Embase, CNKI,VIP database,SinoMed (CBM) and WANFANG database were searched for randomized control trials on the application of ostomy bag on drainage tube seepage after abdominal operation,and the retrieval time was limited from database establishment to 31st November,2016. The meta-analysis was performed by the RevMan 5.3 software.Results Finally 12 articles with a total 627 patients met the inclusion criteria,including 316 patients in the observation group and 311 patients in the control group. The Meta-analysis results showed that using ostomy bag to deal with tube seepage could significantly reduce the average cost [SMD=-5.42,95％CI (-6.32,-4.53),P<0.01] and times of daily dressing change[SMD=-2.78,95％CI (-3.22,-2.34),P<0.01], shorten the healing time of sinus [SMD=-1.63,95％CI (-1.86,-1.40),P<0.01],reduce the incidence of irritant dermatitis [RR=0.13,95％CI (0.06,0.26),P<0.01]. The differences were statistically significant. Conclusions Application of ostomy bag to deal with drainage tube seepageis significantly superior to the traditional nursing method.
