Abstract:
Objective To investigate the application effect of WeChat platform on the follow-up management of twins using non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) compared with traditional telephone follow-up. Methods The twin NIPT pregnant women who were enrolled in the Obstetric Outpatient Department of Shengjing Hospital of China Medical University were numbered in sequence. According to the random number table, the participants were divided into telephone group (n=187) and WeChat group (n=186). Both groups received same enrollment assessment, health education, and regular visit guidance, but were followed up using telephone and WeChat, respectively. The compliance behavior, dropout rate, and satisfaction level were compared between two groups. Results The WeChat group had significantly higher satisfaction level and compliance, and lower dropout rate compared with the telephone group (97% vs. 87% for satisfaction; 98% vs. 94% for compliance; 2% vs. 7% for dropout rate)(χ2=12.590, 4.705, 5.781; P<0.05). Conclusions The application of WeChat follow-up can significantly improve the compliance behaviors, satisfaction level and pregnancy outcome in NIPT pregnant women. It can also reduce the dropout rate and complications.
