Patients in the control group were given routine nursing, while those in the research group were given extended care as well as routine nursing. Totals of 200 questionnaires were handed out to each group, with 186 retrieved in the control group and 182 in the research group. Results Awareness rate of health education knowledge in the control group was 71.8%, and 93.1% in the research group (χ2=15.273, P<0.001). Satisfaction of patients toward ambulatory surgical ward in the research group was higher than that in the control group (P<0.05).Conclusions Implementing extended care to patients having undergone ophthalmology ambulatory surgery can better meet the needs of patients as well as their family members, and improve their satisfaction degree.
