Anxiety status analysis of family members of outpatient fever children patients and its influencing factors

Abstract:
Objective To study the anxiety status of the family members of outpatient fever children patients and its influencing factors .Methods The study was performed in the department of pediatrics in Suzhou Municipal Hospital from March 2016 to August 2016. Three hundred and five outpatient fever children patients were included at random. The state-trait anxiety inventory (STAI) was used for the questionnaire survey in the family members of the children patients. The multi-factor linear regression analysis was carried out for the factors which might induce the anxiety of the family members.Results The state anxiety (S-AI) score of the family members of the fever children patients was (51.19±7.73) points in the males and (56.46±9.02)points in the females, which were both significant higher compared to the control groups in China (t=15.207, 22.388;P<0.01). The single factor analysis showed that the educational level of the family members of the children patients, their relationship with the children patients, the nursing time were the factors which influenced the family members' anxiety of the outpatient fever children patients (t=7.880,8.327,2.769;P<0.05). The multiple linear regression analysis showed that only- child in one family was positive correlation factor which increased the score of the family members' state-anxiety (β=4.709,P<0.001). Children patients at the age of 1-3 years old was the independent risk factor which increased the score of the family members' trait-anxiety (β=3.725,P<0.01). Conclusions The anxiety level of the family members of fever children patients is relatively higher. This should be paid enough attention and the corresponding measures should be taken, so that the family members' anxiety of the children patients can be alleviated.
