Application of positive psychological intervention in hospice care of patients with advanced cancer

Abstract:
Objective To explore the effect of positive psychological intervention on life quality of patients with advanced cancer.Methods A total of 50 patients with advanced cancer were included and randomly divided into intervention group (n=50) and control group (n=50) between April 2014 and July 2016. The routine nursing and tumor nursing strategies were used in both groups,and the positive psychological intervention by clinical psychology professionals was additionally adopted in the intervention group. The quality of life between the two groups was evaluated by quality of life assessment scale (SF-36) before and after intervention.Results The average score of SF-36 in intervention group and control group was (80.8±2.3) and (74.6±3.5),respectively. The difference between two groups was statistically significant (t=10.467,P<0.01). Conclusions The positive psychological intervention can improve self-efficacy and self happiness of patients with advanced cancer,relieve negative emotions caused by negative physical feelings,and improve the quality of life.
