Abstract:
Measurement of intraocular pressure is a crucial task of ophthalmic nursing and it is important for diagnosing or curing ophthalmic diseases. In recent years,an increasing number of studies concerning technologies of monitoring intraocular pressure bring with us many new-type tonometers. In comparison with traditional tonometers,the new-type tonometers has made a progress in operative difficulty index,portability and accuracy. However,the application of these new-type tonometers in clinic also puts more challenges for ophthalmic nursing and ophthalmic nurses. Only by a comprehensive understanding of the working principle and application scope of different tonometers,could we measure intraocular pressure better and more accurate. For this reason,working principles,benefits and disadvantages of tonometers applied in clinic are reviewed as follow in order to better guide the ophthalmic nurse in clinical used correctly.
