Abstract:
Objective To explore the work status of specialist nurses in pediatric intensive care unit ( ICU) in Jiangsu province. Methods Totally 57 inservice nurses of pediatric ICU from Nanjing Children′s Hospital were investigated with self-designed questionnaire about their work status and career development. Results In 57 valid questionnaires, the score of core competence of specialist nurses was improved after training (P>0.05), however, specialist nurses still need to improve in clinical practice (3.770±1.030), management (3.970±0.753) and professional development (3.760±0.937);lack of time (84.21%) and lack of knowledge( 43. 86%) were the difficulties in the work of specialist nurses. Conclusions Nursing work in pediatric ICU of Jiangsu province was in primary stage. However, it is necessary to further strengthen the specialist nurses in pediatric ICU training to fully demonstrate the nurses′ professional ability in the clinical nursing and promote sustainable development of pediatric ICU.
