Abstract:
Objective To explore the correlation between disease uncertainty and anxiety of mothers of children with congenital heart disease ( CHD) before surgery. Methods Totally 100 mothers of children with congenital heart disease participated in the investigation. The study was conducted by using parents′uncertainty in illness scale of Chinese version and self-rating anxiety scale ( SAS ) . Results The mean score of SAS in mothers of children with CHD was (51.18±10.837), The anxiety 1evel was significantly higher than domestic norm (29.78±10.07) (P<0.001). The score of uncertainty in illness was (67.76±9.057) and it was in a high level. We analyzed the scores of uncertainty and anxiety, and the results showed that they were positively associated with each other (r=0.420,0.605,0.414,0.253;P<0.01).Conclusions Nursing staff should provide mothers specific information support in order to reduce the level of uncertainty.
