- Abstract: Objective To systematically analyze the application of statistical analysis methods of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)patient registry study.Methods PubMed,EMBASE,China Knowledge Network(CNKI),WanFang Data and China Biology Medicine Database(SinoMed)were searched from database inception to November 22,2022;patient registry studies of TCM were screened,and a total of 49 studies were included,and the statistical analysis methods used for the studies were analyzed descriptively.Results The study found that the number of TCM patient registry studies was generally limited,with a fluctuating upward trend.The study subjects were mainly safety evaluation of TCM injections(26 studies,53.06%),and relatively few in the field of acupuncture(8 studies,16.33%).There is a general problem of insufficient application and reporting,such as statistical analysis plan,sample size estimation,definition of statistical analysis data set,treatment of missing data and bias control,and other key aspects of statistical analysis.Moreover,the application of treatment methods for missing data and bias control methods are not standardized enough.Conclusion There is an urgent need to develop special guidelines and/or technical guidance specifications for statistical analysis methods of TCM patient registry studies to improve the quality and reliability of results of TCM patient registry studies.
