Abstract:
Objective To improve the emergency response capability in nursing staff in Operating Room through emergency plan exercise. Methods The department established emergency plan exercise group which involved 60 nurses selected by cluster sampling from Operating Room. The drilling group trained nursing staff, made drilling plan and implemented emergency response drilling. From June 2012 to June 2013, 12 times emergency response drilling were carried out, and every drilling had 15 to 30 nurses participated. The comparison were held before and after nurses′training in the tested scores and response capability, as well as the satisfaction of surgeon and anaesthetist for nurses′ rescue cooperation. Results After training, the scores of nurses′theory and skills examination were higher than those before training, and the satisfaction of surgeons and anaesthetist increased as well on nurses′ rescue cooperation (P<0.05).Conclusions The Operating Room should strengthen the emergency plan management, enhance nurses′ risk consciousness and the emergency response ability, increase the team cohesion and the cooperation consciousness, and promote the nursing quality.
