Influences of comprehensive care nurses on the fatigue during chemotherapy and the prognosis in children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia

Abstract:
Objective To explore the influences of comprehensive care nurses on the fatigue during chemotherapy and the prognosis in children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia.Methods The study investigated 80 children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia who were hospitalized from July 201 0 to April 201 5. The participants were divided into intervention group (n =40)and control group (n =40)using odd-even numeration table.All patients received chemotherapy,however,the patients of control group received routine nursing care,and the patients of intervention group received positive nursing care with humanistic concern serviced by nurses.Results After two months chemotherapy:the crucial effective rate was 82.5% for the intervention group and 62.5% for the control group (χ2 =8.1 34,P <0.05);the fatigue level was assessed by cancer-related fatigue scale and the scores of behavior/severity (5.66 ±1 .09 ),emotion (6.02 ±1 .1 1 ), sensory index (6.22 ±1 .44),recognition/mood (3.45 ±1 .20)for the intervention group which were significantly lower than those of the control group (t =9.1 1 3,5.398,4.982,8.1 1 3;P <0.05).The survival time and disease-free survival time were (36.45 ±1 2.38)and (28.45 ±1 1 .73)months for the intervention group,which was significantly longer than that of the control group (t =7.409,5.01 3;P <0.05 ). Conclusions Comprehensive care nurses can effectively reduce the fatigue level and improve the depression and anxiety during chemotherapy and the prognosis in children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia.It also has positive impacts on improving comprehensive chemotherapy efficacy and prolongs patients′survival life.
