Current status and future trends of research about Chinese patients' stigma: a bibliometric analysis

Abstract:
Objective To systematically analyze pertinent literature about patients' stigma in China,and to provide reference for future research.Methods Stigma-related literature were searched in Chinese Journal Full-text Database (CNKI) and Wanfang Data,with "stigma" as the key word in entries of "Title" and "Key words" respectively,and with the entry "Field" narrowed down to "Health & Medicine".The searching results went through bibliometric analysis.The bibliometric analysis method was adopted in this study.Results A total of 100 papers were published in 45 different journals.A rapid rise was shown in recent 5 years.Highest citation frequency was 49 times,and the average was 2.5 times.A total of 399 authors were involved,with average of 3.99 per article.The authors came from 59 work units,most of which were clinical organizations (74.58%).Most studies were cross-sectional study(75%),with questionnaire as the tool.Most of the target in the study were mental diseases (91%).Most objects of the study were patients and relatives (86%).Conclusions The studies about stigma in China are still in the stage of description and explanation.In the future,more studies on stigma are needed with different methods,different diseases and different objects in the future.
