Nursing care of lumbar disc herniation after minimally invasive transforaminal endoscopic surgery

Abstract:
Objective To explore the methods of nursing care and the effects of lumbar disc herniation treated by minimally invasive intervertebral foramen mirror. Methods A total of 40 patients with lumbar disc herniation were selected from June 2012 to October 2013 in Zaozhuang Hospital of TCM and percutaneous endoscopic lumbar discectomy ( PELD ) was operated for them which involved to remove prominent nucleus pulposus tissue and seal broken fiber ring under the endoscope. At the same time, Perioperative nursing care was applied to them including psychological care, rehabilitation exercise, diet and discharge guidance and so on. Results The differences were statistically significant in scores of VAS in lower limb pain and ODI in low back pain among 40 patients before and after operation (P <0. 05). After operation, there were no significant differences among different points (P > 0. 05). Classes of recovery about neurological function included excellent level for 24 patients ( pain disappearing, no limitation of movement function, returning to work or normal activity) , good for 15 ( with occasional pain, able to do light work) , medium for 1 ( some improvement, with pain) with excellent rate of 97. 5%. Conclusions It is an important guarantee for improving quality of nursing and providing high quality nursing care for patients, so as to nurses can conduct nursing and rehabilitation function training guidance reasonably.
