Analysis on quality of life and influencing factors among the disabled elderly in Beijing

Abstract: Objective To learn about quality of life and influential factors among the disabled elderly in Beijing. Methods A total of 950 disabled elderly people from Beijing were investigated with short form with 36 items by a cross-sectional study from May 2014 to December 2014. Data entry and arrangement was conducted by Epidata 3. 1. Data was analyzed by SPSS 18. 0 statistical package. Results A total of 902 valid questionnaires were returned. The total score of quality of life in the disabled elderly was (101. 85 ± 16. 59). Furthermore, the different grades of life quality were good for 19. 9%, medium for 75. 7%, poor for 4. 4%. Single factor analysis of variances showed that different sex, age, monthly income, main care provider and care time of one day caused significant differences in quality of life of the disabled elderly (P<0. 05). Conclusions Quality of life of the disabled elderly is low in Beijing. More attention should be paid to them. Nurses should make specific measures to improve the quality of life of the disabled elderly according to their quality of life and influential factors.
