Correlation between living space and quality of lives and influencing factors in elderly patients with cardiovascular disease in community

Abstract:
Objective To describe current situation of life space of elderly patients with cardiovascular diseases, and to examine the evaluating effects of life space assessment ( LSA ) in community, in order to provide a new, comprehensive and convenient tool for evaluating effectiveness of treatment and nursing care. Methods The LSA and SF-36 survey were used to investigate the current situation among 911 elderly patients with cardiovascular diseases in Pudong area in Shanghai, and we evaluated the current situation of living space in patients with cardiovascular diseases, the correlation with health and influencing factors. Results Scores of elderly patients with cardiovascular diseases in community was (65. 26 ± 18. 83). LSA had positive correlation with BMI, education level, economical income, and frequency of social activities per month ( r =0. 068, 0. 223, 0. 186, 0. 211; P <0. 01 ); and negatively correlated with age and medical cost ( r = -0. 329,-0. 230;P<0. 01). LSA was positively correlated with SF-36 (r=0. 733, P<0. 05). Conclusions living space is a multiple detention concept, which is convenient, easy of use, effective, and correlated with multiple factors. It can reflect physiological, psychological and social status of elderly patients with cardiovascular diseases in community comprehensively. LSA can be used in comprehensive assessing lives quality of elderly patients with cardiovascular diseases in community, and used as a useful evaluation tool for disease management to elderly patients with cardiovascular diseases in community.
