Abstract:
Purpose:To study the concentration of blood glucose during the removal of the pheochromocytoma(pheo) ensuring the patients be safe across the operation.Methods:105 patients with pheochromocytoma were divided into two groups depending on their urine catrecholamine(CA) level. Results:There were 87 cases in CA increasing group in which 30 cases were hyperglycemia, and 18 cases in CA normal group in which 2 cases were hyperglycemia. Before operation,22 cases took gliclazide to keep the blood glucose normal, and 2 cases were used insulin to treat hyperglycemia. The concentration of blood glucose about 32 cases dropped after the resection, of which 29 cases had normal blood glucose. Conclusions:The concentration of blood glucose in patients with pheochromocytoma may not increase. Most cases in pheo induced hyperglycemia can be treated by medicine. After the removal of the pheo, Most cases were normal in plasma glucose. It is necessary to monitor the plasma glucose for the patients with a pheo across the resection of the tumor.
