Abstract: Purpose: To investigate the new method of diagnosis and trearment for the obstruction ofureteropelvic junction (UP J). Methods:From 1993 to June 1999,47 cases of obstruction of UPJ have been treatedsugically with the diagnosis confirmed on histopathological studies. The preoperative diagnosis was usually madeon videocast retrograde pyelography and ultrasonography. In surgical treatment,the double tongue-shaped flaptype of pyeloplasty designed by us was specially undergone. Results:The accurate rate of ultrasonography andvideocast retrograde pyelography was 80. 2%and 100%. There were no post operative complication such asconstriction and uric leakage after the double tongue-shaped flap type of pyeloplasty. Conclusions: Forpreoperative diagnosis of obstruction of UPJ, ultrasonography was a better examination method. The doubletongue-shaped flap type of pyeloplasty designed by us was considered as a satisfactory effect,less complication,and should be recommendable for clinical application.
