Abstract:
Objective To explore the effect of oral administration of compound polyethylene glycol electrolyte powder on bowel preparation before children. Methods A total of 60 children, who would have enteroscheocele in the forenoon, were divided into experimental group and control group on average. The children in the experimental group took medication before sleep (12 hs before operation), while children of control group took medication at morning of operation day (6 hs before operation). The children compliance and bowel preparation were compared. Results The qualified cleanness rate of bowel preparation was 93. 3% of the experimental group and 96. 7% of the control group (χ2 =0. 351,P >0. 05), while the compliance of experimental group was 100. 0% better than 86. 7% of the control group (χ2 = 4. 286,P < 0. 05). Conclusions The oral administration of compound polyethylene glycol electrolyte powder on bowel preparation (12 hs before operation) acquires satisfaction effects, easily be accepted by children and families, and is a reasonable method for bowel preparation.
