Abstract: Objective To investigate the correlation of self-care index in elderly patients with heart failure and family support. Methods By convenience sampling method,102 hospitalized patients( aged ≥60 years old)with heart failure were selected from August to December,2013,and they were investigated the family-support index and self-care index. Results The self-care index in elderly patients with heart failure was at a low level,and the total score was(46. 71 ± 11. 44). The scores of the maintenance of self-care,self-care management and self-care confidence were(22. 71 ± 5. 71),(10. 00 ± 2. 82) and(14. 00 ± 4. 28 ), respectively. The family-support index was at the medium level,and the total score was(9. 12 ± 4. 08). Family support and self-care index was positively correlated( r = 0. 719,P < 0. 01). Conclusions The family-supporting has a positive effect on self-caring of elderly patients with chronic heart failure,we can improve their self-care ability by raising the level of family support.
