Abstract:
Objective To assess the psychological status of recurrent spontaneous abortion( RSA) patients and analyze the correlation among family functioning, coping style and mental health. Methods A total of 115 RSA patients and 115 ordinary women were selected respectively as the study group and the control group. They were evaluated by three questionnaires:Family Assessment Device(FDA),Symptom Check List (SCL-90)and Medical Coping Mode Questionnaire( MCMQ). The correlations of the three statuses were analyzed by SPSS 13. 0. Results In the study group, the scores of somatization, compulsion, interpersonal relationship, depression, anxiety hostility, horror, bigoted, psychosis and the total score were(1. 41 ± 0. 44), (1. 48 ± 0. 49),(1. 24 ± 0. 35),(1. 36 ± 0. 43),(1. 34 ± 0. 45),(1. 40 ± 0. 46),(1. 23 ± 0. 37), (1. 17 ± 0. 28),(1. 20 ± 0. 27)and(119. 55 ± 31. 37),which were significantly higher than those of the control group(t = 5. 14,4. 37,2. 95,2. 99,3. 43,4. 37,3. 27,2. 61,3. 17,4. 24,respectively;P < 0. 05). The scores of solving problem, communication, roles, behavior control and general functioning in FDA were significantly lower than those of the control group(t = 3. 58,2. 81,2. 45,2. 16,2. 81,respectively;P <0. 05). The RSA patients were more inclined to adopt a negative yield coping style(t = 3. 08,P < 0. 01). There was a significantly positive correlation between scores of SCL-90 and FDA in RSA patients(r = 0. 12,0. 12, 0. 12,0. 11,0. 14,0. 13,0. 12,respectively;P < 0. 05),but no correlation was found between facing and avoid (P > 0. 05). Multiple regression analysis demonstrated that the marital relationship and the frequency of spontaneous abortion were the major factors affecting the mental health of RSA patients. Conclusions RSA patients experience poor mental health. Effective interventions should be taken to improve mental health level in RSA patients and to facilitate them to take active coping strategies.
