Abstract: Objective To investigate the parents′ requirement of children with acute leukemia during the period of lumbar puncture. Methods A total of 105 parents of children with acute leukemia during the period of lumbar puncture were selected by purposive sampling to complete the questionnaire. Results The total of requirements was 3. 53, in which the top three were ensuring the children safe and comfortable (3. 92 ± 0. 54) score, the information acquisition (3. 79 ± 0. 65) score and receiving support and help (3. 68 ± 0. 71 ) score. The parents had different specific care requirements before and after lumbar puncture. Conclusions Doctors and nurses should pay more attention to the needs of parents, and actively take corresponding measures to meet their different requirements so as to help children to cooperate with lumbar puncture and prevent complications.
