Abstract:
Objective To explore the nursing intervention to facilitate blood pressure and self-management ability in hypertensive elderly. Methods Since February 2013 to February 2014, a total of 188 cases in our hospital implemented nursing intervention as intervention group, while 100 hypertensive elderly received routine care of patients as a control group from 1 years before nursing intervention started until nursing intervention implemented as control group. Comparison of blood pressure, complications and self-management ability had been organized among patients in two groups before and after the intervention. Results After intervention, the diastolic and systolic blood pressure were (109. 7 ± 11. 7) mmHg and (76. 4 ± 7. 5) mmHg in the intervention group lower than these of the control group (t=12. 82,12. 22;P<0. 01);the self-management ability of intervention group maintained (86. 4 ± 10. 2) score comparing with (57. 9 ± 8. 6) score of control group (t=23. 80,P<0. 01);14. 4% of complications in the intervention group compared with 38. 0% in the control group (χ2 =38. 51,P <0. 05). Conclusions Nursing intervention can improve blood pressure in hypertensive elderly, enhance their self-management ability, and reduce complications.
