Abstract:
Objective To explore the work immersion of the nurses who worked in a teaching tertiary general hospital, and obtain more evidence for the nursing manager to mobilize the work activeness and initiation of nurses. Methods A total of 127 nurses from a grade three, first class hospital were investigated by convenience sampling method. The Chinese version of work immersion scale was used in the study. Results The nurses acquired work immersion scale with a score of (3. 48 ± 0. 45). The top three dimension scores were clear goals, focus on the task and the balance between skills and challenges. There were positive correlation between the age&length of work experience and the scores of top three dimension including focus on task, clear reaction on time, the change of time sense (P<0. 05). There were significant differences among the sense for transformation of time in the different academic levels nurses (P<0. 01), and there was no correlation with other dimensions (P>0. 05). There were statistically significant difference among the four dimension ( inner impetus and reward, immediate feedback , balance between skills and challenges, sense for transformation of time) in nurses with different professional title (P<0. 05), while the other dimensions had no correlation (P>0. 05). Conclusions The clinical nurses acquired work immersion with a moderate degree. The nurse manager should give more attention, encouragement, respect and recognition to mobilize the work activeness and initiation of nurses, so as to promote the development of nurses and efficiency and quality of nursing.
