Abstract:
Objective To investigate conflict management styles of clinical psychiatric nurses in Shandong province. Methods Totals of 810 psychiatric nurses were investigated by Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Scale in psychiatric hospital of Shandong province. Results When faced with conflict,the clinical psychiatric nurses commonly used “accommodation”, and the most unusual way was “competition”. The type of handling conflict of clinical psychiatric nurses was related to different nurses′age, work experience, job title, gender and marital status. In the three dimensions of“avoiding”,“accommodation”, and“competition” showed significant differences(P<0. 05). Conclusions Conflict management styles of psychiatric clinical nurse was affected by many factors. The managers should conduct conflict training courses to promote the ability of resolving conflicts of clinical nurses and to enhance their mental health.
