Influencing factors of general well-being among patients with permanent colostomy

Abstract:
Objective To explore the correlation of general well-being and social support of patients with permanent colostomy, and to analyze the influencing factors of general well-being. Methods A convenient sample of 120 patients with permanent colostomy were recruited from June 2012 to December 2013 in Shanxi Province and investigated by the general well-being schedule scale and social support rating scale. Results The correlation coefficient of total general well-being score had positive relationship with social support score and its each dimensions containing objective support, subjective support and utilization degree of support ( r=0. 370, 0. 269,0. 395,0. 269, respectively;P<0. 05). The single factor analysis presented that the scores of general well-being were different impacting by different work status, family monthly income, ostomy self-care situation and defecation regularity (F/t=2. 140,2. 471,3. 740,3. 080,respectively; P<0. 05). By multiple stepwise regression analysis, defecation regularity, ostomy self-care situation and family monthly income respectively were influencing factors of general well-being. Conclusions The general well-being score and social support score of patients with permanent colostomy were positively correlated, and the family income, ostomy self-care situation and defecation regularity were influence factors of general well-being.
