Abstract:
Objective To explore the competency and influence factors of clinical nursing instructor ( CNI ) in hospital, so as to provide evidence for manager to choose, evaluate, and train CNI. Methods Qualitative design was used and a semi-structure interview was conducted in a purposive sample of fifteen CNI. The materials were analyzed by phenomenological procedures.Results After analysis of interviewed materials, we distilled 6 themes for the competence of CNI including skills, knowledge, social role, self-recognition, personality and motivation, while the influential factors recognized 3 themes containing hospital structure, student′s characteristics and self-factors.Conclusions Manager should pay attention to the dynamic developmental of CNI, the inner quality of CNI, and improve CNI′s competency.
