Abstract:
Objective To investigate the relationship between nurses ’ emotional quotient ( EQ ) and the quality of care in the neurology department , and to provide the foundation of improvement of EQ training of nursing staff.Methods Thirty nurses were enrolled in this study .Emotional intelligence scale was used to evaluate EQ, and then make correlation analysis between evaluation and patient satisfaction .Results The EQ scores of all nurses were (68.63 ±11.65), within which 25 nurses (83.3%) got 41 -80 and 5 nurses (16.7%) got 81 -100.The scores of self-recognition, emotion regulation, self motivation, others emotion recognition and interpersonal relationship management were (13.50 ±2.69), (12.87 ±2.86), (14.83 ± 3.19), (13.77 ±2.90) and (13.67 ±2.80), respectively.The average scores of nursing service satisfaction survey were (38.21 ±1.10).Analysis of Pearson correlation showed that the satisfaction with nursing service and nursing staff were positively related to each dimension of EQ scores (P<0.05).Conclusions In the neurology department , nurses with high EQ are more likely to provide quality nursing service .In order to continue improve the nursing quality , nursing staff should strengthen their cultivation of EQ to meet the needs of nursing quality , and adapt to the needs of society .
