Effect of post graded management and performance appraisal on quality of orthopedic nursing

Abstract:
Objective To investigate the efficacy of performance appraisal after post graded management in orthopedic nursing.Methods Nurses were graded according to the orthopedic care planning.Performance appraisal program was established to compare the nursing quality,patients' satisfactory to nursing,and patients',physicians',nursing colleagues' satisfactory to nurses.Results After implementing the program,the scores of the nursing quality indicators including intensive care,basic care,ward management,management of key-links,first aid medicine and equipment management were (98.2 ± 0.32),(98.9 ± 0.25),(98.6 ± 0.27),(98.9 ± 0.14) and (99.0 ± 0.28),respectively,Before implementing the program,the scores were (97.7 ± 0.41),(97.8 ± 0.24),(96.8 ± 0.25),(97.8 ± 0.16) and (97.5 ± 0.31).The differences were statistically significant (t =2.719,8.978,13.836,14.634,10.156,respectively; P < 0.05).The nursing satisfaction scores of nursing capacity,health education,care attitude,timely care,and nurse-patient relationship were improved significantly (t =5.097,9.520,9.803,7.757,10.915,respectively;P < 0.05).The nurse assessment scores that appraised from patients,physicians,nursing colleagues were increased significantly,and the differences were statistically significant (t =2.167,2.445,6.017,respectively; P < 0.05).Conclusions The care management model combined with post graded and performance appraisal can effectively promote nursing efficiency and the quality of care.
