Abstract:
Objective To explore the relationship between nurses ’ self-efficacy and turnover intention . Methods Totals of 800 nurses from 3 Third Level Class A hospitals in Beijing were investigated with the general self-efficacy scale and turnover intention questionnaires .The correlation between the self-efficacy and turnover intention was analyzed .Results The score of self-efficacy of 800 nurses was (2.68 ±0.54), which was medium level.Nurses of different positions and titles had significantly different self-efficacy (F=11.051, 4.709, respectively;P<0.01).Self-efficacy increased along with the improvement of position and title .The score of nurses’ turnover intention was (15.87 ±3.64), which was also medium level .Nurses of different titles and departments had significantly different turnover intention (F=4.465, 5.104, respectively; P<0.01). Nurse practitioners and nurses from elderly wards had the highest turnover intention .Nurses’ self-efficacy and turnover intention were negatively related (r=-0.394,P<0.01).Conclusions Nurses’ self-efficacy needs improvement and self-efficacy management can reduce their turnover intention .Improvement of nurses ’ self-efficacy can reduce nurses ’ turnover intention .
