Abstract:
Objective To explore the effect of Post Abortion Care (PAC) on the outpatient operation room.Methods A total of 462 cases with unplanned pregnancy who asked for induced abortion in the outpatient department from June to July in 2012 were chosen as control group and they were provided health prescription before and after the operation as well as informed of related issues.A total of 425 cases were selected as observation group that received PAC besides routine service mode such as strengthening the awareness of practicing contraception immediately,choosing appropriate contraceptive methods,guiding the correct usage of contraceptive.The applications of contraceptives after abortion were compared between the two groups.Results Significant differences were found between the two groups:the rate of cases who applied contraceptive was 94.2％ (n =435) in control group and 100％ (n =425) in observation group,(P ＜ 0.01) ; the rate of cases who continued the contraceptive one month after abortion was 69.9％ (n =319)in control group and 98.5％ (n =413) in observation group,P ＜ 0.01 ; the rate three months after abortion was 50.0％ (n =195)in control group and 81.0％ (n =306) in observation group (P ＜ 0.01) ; the rate six months after abortion was 36.4％ (n =107) in control group and 66.7％ (n=190) in observation group(P ＜ 0.01).Conclusions The application of PAC mode can increase effective contraception and reduce recurrent abortion,which demonstrates high-quality nursing care in outpatient operation room.
