Study on the relationship between self-efficacy and self-management behaviors in patients with hemodialysis

Abstract: Objective To investigate the correlation between hemodialysis patients' self-efficacy and self-management behavior.Methods Using the United States Stanford University chronic centers for Disease Education Research self-efficacy and self-management behavior questionnaire survey was conducted in 89 cases of hemodialysis patients.Results The score of self-efficacy for hemodialysis patients was (38.51 ± 10.91),with 22.47％ patients of high level,43.82％ patients of medium level,and 33.7％ patients of low level.The score of self management behavior was (76.38 ± 14.88),and its impact factor were the occupation,and dialysis frequency (P ＜ 0.05).There was a significant positive correlation between self-efficacy and self-management behaviors of hemodialysis patients (r =0.43,P ＜ 0.01).Conclusions There is a close relationship between hemodialysis patients' self-efficacy and self-management behaviors,clinicians should be based on self-efficacy theory to mobilize the patient' s own potential,so as to improve patients' self-management behavior.
